Nick Lascelles is a registered clinical psychologist in full time private practice, based in Hamilton, New Zealand. He holds a Masters degree with First Class Honours in Clinical Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology. He completed his training in 2001. Nick is a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society.
Nick specialises in forensic psychological assessment. He has extensive experience in providing reports for the Courts and New Zealand Parole Board covering areas such as risk, treatment suitability, and management recommendations. Nick is contracted by a variety of sources, including Ministry of Health, Hauora Waikato and defence counsel.
Nick’s ability to produce concise, relevant reports with evidence based opinion has been recognised as a particular strength, and he has been contracted to provide specialised coaching of other psychologists in this area. Nick has provided training at a national level to the New Zealand Parole Board in the area of risk assessment and decision making. He has experience in appearing as an expert witness before the District, High, and Family Courts, as well as the NZPB and Deportation Tribunal, and is familiar with legal processes and requirements. Nick also provides reports for the court under Section 38 of the Criminal Procedure (Mentally Impaired Persons) Act 2003 and Section 333 of the Children, Young Persons, and their Families Act 1989.
Nick can provide assessments for both adults and adolescents, but does not assess or provide opinion regarding children. Another specific area of exclusion is complex neuropsychological referrals. He is happy to suggest options for you if unable to undertake the work himself, and has collated a list of providers in the NZ Forensic Psychologist Directory.
Nick is based in Hamilton, but is available to travel on request.
